Mash

Let me 'fess up here. First, I visited under quite a few drinks down the road at a completely different establishment (the Endurance); second, I am not a tourist; third, my friend and myself turned up in our suits (I know, I know - a cardinal offence).
This isn't my kind of bar.
Awful chart music, bass heavy but nothing played of any note to warrant such bass. Drinks prices were so-so (think I was semi-smashed at that point), dancefloor is tiny (why would you want to dance to chart music?) and the clientele as you expect, a mixture of semi-playa types and tourists.
I love tourists, even though my language skills beyond my native English tongue are remedial. I'd just wish that tourists (including myself when abroad) would instantly know the decent places.
This isn't one of them (as is obvious from my review).
Sorry to bash this bar, as my friend maintains that on some nights it's a very good bar. I'm not a big fan of Central London on a Friday night at the best of times, so if you visit Mash then, you kind of know what to expect. Saying that, in its defence, it wasn't that objectionable - just I've done this kind of thing in my past and have no wish for re-runs.
Friendly door-staff, which makes a change for London.

This used to be an ok meeting place and the bar had a nice atmosphere. It is now reminicent of an airport lounge. Brightly lit, cold, rude staff and full of canteen-like tables and chairs. Charging £10 for two small white wines is the final insult.
Mash has really lost it.

We used to come here all the time but went last night for the first time in about a year, and it has turned into a tacky, airport lounge with over priced wine and rude door staff and waiting staff. Moved seats twice but were still in the firing line for the incredible draft but the doorman told us it was the door's fault as it wouldnt stay shut?? Used to be stylish and cool now it has a deli in the front selling sausage rolls...a million places better than this in London town..

I am from Iceland and have been to Mash twice. This is a great bar, I like the size of the place and there where very good dj playing bouth times I was there. When I go to a bar I very much like to dance and even tho the dancefloor is not very big you can dance in Mach. I recomend this bar to everybody I know how is going to London.
Thums up for Mash ;-)

The decor is quite cool but unfortunately I'd describe Mash as overpriced and nothing special. I'd suggest visiting some of the other swanky bars in Fitzrovia instead.
