Well, after spending yet another successful evening; in terms of friends, food & booze – (let’s face it, that’s exactly what a quality London boozer should offer), I couldn’t help but feel that I was faced with absolute bafoons behind the bar. Okay, okay, I fully appreciate and herald, comradary; but when the bar staff start falling over themselves to support an incompetent and insulting barmaid, especially when her customers (i.e. me, the paying punter) had so graciously responded, by allowing for her substandard insulting behavior – that really is verging on the ridiculous. Yes, that is exactly what we were faced with this evening. Unfortunately, the taste of the wine, the quality of the food was completely faded into the background after the affair that I was witness to. Not only were the bar staff unprofessional to their direct customer, they thought it appropriate, to encourage their other (independent) customers to join in their unsupported dispute.

Perhaps this should ring alarm bells to the manager of this establishment – “is this really the message you want to give….?”

I hope not!

I love London pubs.

I love London food.

I love London.

OK, it has been around for over ten years and most restaurant critics have stopped writing about it now, but The Lansdowne is still there and still absolutely fantastic. I have been eating there since it opened and I would say the food is now even better than it was when it won all the pludits. With The Eagle in Farringdon this is a true Gastropub original and it is easy to forget these places changed the face of Englsih food, we would still be on Lasagne and Frozen Cod and Chips in our locals if it wasn't for them so get down there and pay homage!

PS I've had better puddings here than I had at Gordon Ramsey's but don't tell him that.

Set in a beautiful area, the drinking establishments have a lot to live up to. First impressions are good, and after the friendly service, good wine and and fantastic food, it's even more of a find!

This gastro pub defines it's genre. With out a doubt one of, if not the best in London. Great atmosphere, rustic decore, bordering on scruffy but adding to its charm. The food further inhances the already good vibe, with constantly evolving dishes giving traditional pub grub a refreshing twist. The service great, but don't expect table service downstairs. Choose a table and order at the bar. For a little extra dine upstiars in the more intimate restaurant. 9/10
