Good, but not quite as good as the real Porterhouse on the seafront in Bray.........get there, its the best pub in the world. But, for London dwellers in the absence of a trip to the Emerald Isle, the Porterhouse Covent Garden is the next best thing. Mine's an Oyster Stout!

Went there last Saturday and has fantastic atmosphere. The Brazilian waitress was amazing and on her game. The beers are great and have a great selection of international beers. Highly recommend for locals and tourists. Great pre-game meeting place too.

The only pub in London I've found worthy of the monicker 'Irish'. As good as the original in Temple Bar in Dublin. The Wrassler's Stout alone is worth the trip in for, though stout-virgins may find it too heavy, and opt for the smooth Oyster Stout.

Has the best elements of the best Irish pubs; lots of 'snugs' and cosy corners, subdued lighting, great atmosphere, live music, and of course the best beer in town. Avoids the traps of the pseudo-Oirish chains; industrial strength lighting and poker machines. Well worth a visit.

The menu is not extensive but the food is excellent quality for a bar. Whether you just want a snack or a main course the atmosphere of the bar and the good service from the friendly bar staff make a night out at the Porterhouse a must do for anyone living or visiting London.

Despite being a big bar the many different floors and levels create intimate cubby holes for small groups. They also have larger areas which can be booked for big groups.

What an excellent concept of the split levels, full on at the bar or sedate alcoves for some quiet chat and dining. Tons of seating, tons of room. Great atmosphere. Great food and more than two ladies loos. I was fascinated with beer display and upon asking discovered that it was a private collection of one of the owners who originally opened the Porterhouse in Ireland. Was even more impressed (being a Kiwi but not a beer drinker) to see they had Speights on the beer menu!!

A really enjoyable place to eat and drink and I have thoroughly recommended it to my fellow workmates and we have made a "come-back" already.

The sort of pub that is the wet dream of tourists and your parents, the Porterhouse is always the first and easy choice of the lazy when naming a central meeting point for a drink. Think of it as the equivalent of the Harvester to the Berni Inn that is O'Neils. Make yours a half of Chiller and move on.

Since when has it been Irish?

Anyway, the Porterhouse has amazing decor and lovely copper piping running throughout.

There's a extensive range of bottled beer, although you're a little bit limited on the bitter front.

I've only eaten there once, but the sausage and mash was lovely, and had a nice thick onion gravy that was full of flavour.

Not sure why this place is dubbed as being an "Irish" pub, since it is an international beer pub, with an extensive beer menu, sorted by country (large Belgian section) and with an extensive explanation for some of the top beers. Great decoration and atmosphere.

I love going to this place in the winter, you know when it's snowing outside and all you want is some ale to warm you up and a comfy chair. It's quite easy to find you've stayed longer then you intended.

Our favourite time is late afternoon just before the pre dinner rush.

Porterhouse makes a change from the usual "Stella" hang outs and the fact that they always help you with any questions about the ales is a big plus. Roll on Winter.

This place is indeed a tourists heaven, however my friends and i have always found this an excellent starting place for an evening out. Although you risk injury from an over excited middle aged american tourist attempting a jig to the live music, the alfresco drinking in the summer makes it a decent meeting place before moving on.
