Having read the below reviews I thought I'd check out this place - wish I hadnt!

The drinks were a crazy price even by London standards.

The bar was full of smoke & despite it being quiet, the service was ordinary.

- Not worth the effort of finding the place!

I've been here a number of times including hiring out an area for my birthday - Jan 2004. The staff are nice, cocktails magnificent and certainly not the most expensive I've had in central London - the Chocolate Martini is a must.

I've never had a full meal there but the buffet they put on for my birthday was satisfactory and th bar snacks serve their purpose.

I would return there (and often do!) without hesitation.

Was always tempted to have a drink in Detroit but never sorted one out til this month. Decided to meet girlfriend there for cocktails and we were both taken back by the cosy, intimate surroundings and the chilled tunes. Make no mistake, the drinks are not cheap but if you really want to make a classy impression come here for a great evening

If you're looking for chilled and unintimidating, then you've found your bar. Hidden below street level, its a mixture of cubby holes and wooden tables where you can be intimate or just chat with friends. And you can chat with friends as there's no loud music pumping out overhead. I've only been here a couple of times, but each time I found the staff friendly and the service good. Even when 3 of us had ordered food straight after a table of about 20, they made sure our food got to us quickly so we didn't have to wait long. The cocktails are a little pricey to make it a regular trip but you get what you pay for - they're good!

On the occasions I visited Detroit, it wasn't very busy (it was during the week) so can't vouch for how well they cope when rushed off their feet. But from my experience, recommended.

The cocktails in the Detroit are amazing, if a tad pricey. The barstaff are more than willing to experiment.I've spent many a night getting trollied on the company in this place.Great atmosphere, with a young trendy crowd.

If you love your cocktails you will love Detroit.

The friendly bar staff seem to take an age to make them but they never disappoint and the atmosphere on a Thursday night is great.

There always seems to be a party in full swing on the occasions that I have been but it never seems to get too crowded.

If the Bar gets too hectic you can have a bite to eat and continue drinking in restaurant area or chill out in one of the cellar like rooms.

Never been disappointed and will continue to make my way through the cocktail list
