Salt Whisky Bar

Dropped by on Saturday evening: both doors were open onto Edgeware Road, letting in noise and traffic fumes; dodgy music was playing too loudly and a massive drinks deal poster was propping open the front door. Not a reassuring welcome, so we headed off to another, cosier bar. We wanted something a bit classier, given the cost of cocktails in Salt. Shame, cos the cocktails were great when we visited over winter 2004.

I liked the concept. I wish I was there when the live DJ was playing though - call ahead I suppose. They have a restaurant too!
I found the drinks expensive. If you're taking someone (a potential employer) out for a night cap, be prepared to spend between £10 and £20 per shot of whiskey. (a full bottle only costs £115 at Selfridges)
Any way, I got the job so I'm not really complaining. Thanks Salty ;p

I've been to this bar on two occasions and had a thoroughly encapsulating experience both times.
The first visit was as part of a pre-Christmas party last year and the second at their Burns Supper event this year. On both evenings the standard of the food was superb (especially the Haggis!) which I gather is due to their very experienced Italian chef.
Moving on to the drinks, this bar certainly is a real find if you can't resist the vast array of malt whisky on offer along with a cocktail list that sits well above the ordinary.
Salt have managed to balance extremely well the mood of the drinks and food on offer with suave and enticing decor and ambience. The service was always prompt, polite and friendly.
A bar you must visit!!

Without a doubt one of the better bars in London. Salt is well styled, nicely finished and with good attention to detail. The atmosphere is relaxed and stylish while the service is friendly and efficient.
To the drinks... I'm not a whisky connoseur so I can't comment on the quality of the menu, but I am told by those who know that it is very good.
Cocktails are my thing and I can honestly say that the drinks are top drawer. Perhaps at the bottom of the top drawer, but they make the grade. I can think of places in London you'd get a better drink, but most aren't quite as pretty as Salt so it's a payoff. At any rate, unless you're quite as much of a cocktail nerd as I am I doubt you'll notice the difference between Salt and say, Lab in terms of the drinks, but you'd certainly notice the difference between Salt and a chain cockail bar like Revolution.
