I'm afraid I agree with the other reviews. I liked this place when it was the Barley Mow, then I liked it when it first changed and had the refurb. It was quite refreshing for the area. But they soon up-ed the prices, limited the seating (you can't sit in the restaurant section to have just drinks no matter how full the bar is and no matter how empty the restaurant is - ultimately making it impossible to get a seat inside. This is the most ridiculus rule I have EVER come across especially in quite a small place), and now the food has started to go down hill too. Its so overpriced too. I would avoid this place and go to either the Captian Kidd in Wapping, or just round the river a bit to Bootys - much better atmosphere!

I agree with others comments , the new 'narrow street bar' is awful , over priced and tacky. A real shame because The Barley mow was spot on.

This used to be the Dockmaster's house situated at the mouth of the Limehouse Basin on the river. It has a large outdoor terrace which is always busy in the summer as people watch the river traffic go by.

Inside used to be a no-nonsense, traditonal feeling English pub which was friendly and relaxing and offered good value food.

However, it has recently been taken over and refurbished and all the charm and character that it did have has been stripped away and replaced by bare grey walls and a solid metal bar. To be honest, they've ruined the place which is a real shame.

It seems to want compete with the proliferation of wine bars spreading out from Canary Wharf but they should've left it as it was. A terrible waste of what used to be a really good pub.

Drinkers wanting an old-fashioned pub overlooking the Thames should head further up the river to the Captain Kidd in Wapping instead.

This used to be an indifferent pub, which stil retained some atmosphere and although it was a little rough and ready it was a comfortable place to go.

It was taken over and renovated last year and is now called "The Narrow Street Bar and Dining Room".

Quite simply, it's awful. It's now not a pub and not a restaurant. It's overcrowded, loud and expensive and the food is over priced at best.

Take my advice, don't bother.
