The atmosphere on the weekday is totally different to weekend. On a weekday its chilled out, roof terrace nice idea, mix of people.Weekend is lively full of mid-twenties getting down to pretty funky house. Like any bar targeting this kinda crowd, there is the "beautiful and loving ourselves" crowd but most are young, fun and up for it.

I went to the White House with my boyfriend a couple of weeks ago and despite we didn't book we had the best table in the restaurant area. The food was as excellent as the wine. After 22.00 they started playing a very good groovy music. I enjoyed so much that I want to show it to a bunch of friends who are coming from abroad.

The atmosphere at the White House is just right for those who wish to relax and converse with friends in a "non-pub" environment. The food is great and the staff are very friendly. The decor is simple yet unique for this side of the river. I would recommend The White House to those who wish to get together with friends in a lively environment and enjoy great food and decent music!

I dined at the White House last night, and enjoyed the food atmosphere and particularly the cocktails so much that I tried to make a reservation for Friday night only to be disappointed as it is full. I am a big fan of Japanese food and was a little dubious of how a restaurant/ bar would do when making seared tuna sashimi - it was one of the best Japanese dishes I have tasted, coming close to the likes of Zuma! The service was good, the food was excellent and the decor was very cool but comfortable. I look forward to returning.

Big Tip don't hire the private dinning rooms. I went to a friends birthday there a couple of weeks ago and can only say avoid at all cost. The food was simply reheated rubbish I would have rather eaten the bill. Pricy as well and after you can't even go into the members bar and instead have to pile down stairs.

AVOID

If you can put up with the volume level you'll enjoy a relaxed evening here with good buzzy atmosphere and good food - I had mushroom risotto which was perfect and the portion wasn't too overwhelming. So I would recommend it for dinner, but as I said, don't come here if you want to chat - unless your sign language is advanced!

The White House is pretentious and overpriced and full of the worst sort of Clapham residents. The atmosphere is dismal and anyone who rates it needs to get out more.

I wasn't sure what to expect before heading to The White House but since my first visit 3 weeks ago, I've been back every week, sampling the different atmospheres on different days of the week. A very nice decor, very cosmopolitan. Arrive early if you're coming for dinner as it does get noisy later on. The food is above what I'd expected and there is a very tasty variety of cocktails. Don't knock it till you've tried!

Went to the White House after recommendations from friends, the decor was lovely, the staff was OK but the food was disappointing. The portions are tiny and for nearly all the main dishes you will have to order a side dish separately to get anything substantial to eat! I would also advise to stay clear of the fish cakes, which just tasted of over salty mash. The White House is a nice place to go for drinks but I would eat elsewhere first!

The White House's aggressive advertising won't do anything to revive their flagging popularity if they don't take the same approach to rethinking their service policy, which seems geared to alienate customers.

We were stunned to be sent away to withdraw cash to pay the door charge (£6 on a Thursday) because the door staff couldn't manage to charge a card. On returning with cash, we were only allowed to enter 2 at a time - there was no queue, and only 3 of us - so this left one of our group standing alone on the street in the rain until 2 of us had paid - which could be understandable if they were busy but there was hardly anyone inside - ?

The door staff had said the kitchen was open, but once inside the waitress told us it was closed and to round it off, having overheard our conversation, the chef said that was actually fortunate since we could get a better meal elsewhere. In my opinion the White House does nothing that isn't done better elsewhere and is best avoided.
