I don't get why everyone says how pretentious this place is. I was taken here by two random locals and it was so damn friendly. I barely spoke to my friends all night I was too busy chatting to random people about random things - it felt like we were at a house party rather than a bar full of strangers. The decor is pretty cool, only problem I had was big crowds at the bar and not much room for impromptu dancing. As you do.

Have to agree in part with the other reviewers commenting on either ironic trendiness (the much fabled Hoxtonite haircuts can still be seen) and/or the slightly cool, aloof atmosphere.

That said, my friend and myself enjoyed ourselves when we visited over the Bank Holiday weekend and the range of bottled beers has improved (no sign of Becks or Stella, which is a good thing).

Same atmosphere, busy, bustling but not the usual banter or friendly conversation amongst groups that you get elsewhere in the area. Still beats Central London by a country mile i.e. no sign of macho bull**** or aggrevation. Music can be a bit hit or miss, but adds to the atmosphere.

Dare I say it, that the place is growing on me? Admittedly, as soon as you get off the bus from Stoke Newington, it drops you off right outside - so it would be rude not to have one (or two, or three).

Not a place for quiet conversation (although everyone tries), nor to pick someone up, but not as bad (i.e. as a***-achingly trendy) as you expect it to be.

Definitely a place where I will always have one or two before moving to Cantaloupe or Lux.

P.s. Not to be confused with the dire Catch 22 next door.

dreambagsjaguarshoes has grown up. The uber-trendies have moved on making it more relaxed, but still cool. The exhibitions just get better and better. The last Kill Bill exhibition was outstanding and the new exhibition by Call of the Wild is really strong too. It makes the venue look totally different- and its PINK! Plus the food is great. I like it alot.

Situated in London's uber trendy 'Shoho' (see also Shoxton and The 'ditch), Jaguar Shoes plays host to a plethora of socialite London wannabes. Its kitsch name is equally rivalled by its kitsch clientele, quaffing the over-priced lager and dazzling array of sprits (Julia is a personal favourite, if only because i'm still trying to work out what it actually is). The interior is a painfully 'au fait' minimalist affair, presumably to compliment the bar staffs repartee. Look out for the novelty items behind the bar, although remember that no amount of haggling over the price will result in you actually obtaining the Jesus Action Figure.

Mullets ahoy! This is what Shoreditch is supposed to be about. The finest example of laughable ironic trendiness I have seen in a long time. Just don't let on that you're only here for a joke.

Either the best or worst bar in London, depending on your point of view. Full of trendy kids and wannabes, the atmosphere is desparately aspirational, as everyone tries to out-cool one another. Which makes the whole place a bit dead really.

Particularly as it gets so damned busy. If you wanna seat, go elsewhere. If you want intelligent conversation, go elsewhere. But if you want to know what's hot in hairdressers magazines, check it out.

I like the look of the spooky new graffiti exhibition that is emerging!

Laid back and cool...

No!, lets chuck on a Ben Sherman and flock to under priced nasty lager lounges with all the other identical corporate images, that we all sooo love!!

D'ont you dare be different, or experimental, just blend into the rest of the nothingness that consumes our general society.

JAGUARSHOES RULES!

What's trendy and what's not? Whatever. I like this bar. Especially the strange music quiz they hold on the occasional Monday.
