Cellar Gascon
your comments review this restaurant
Can not be beaten if you are looking for an evening of delicious wine with some Gascon style tapas to wash down. The wine bar petit brother to the Michelin starred Club Gascon next door, Cellar is a blend of classic French wine bar and modern, dark wood/exposed brick Clerkenwell style bar. Can be overly populated with merchant bankers before 8pm but taste the Carpaccio of Foie Gras washed down with one of the multitude of wines from the eponymous region (Montravel at 13.95 a bottle is a light, crisp, sappy white ideal for summer eves and perfect on ther pocket too) and you wont notice the other customers, or the all French staff at this smithfield treasure, you will be somewhere above cloud 9. If you haven't been - why not?!

Service is jokey and friendly at this wine bar adjunct of Club Gascon, but the tapas size plates of exquisitely prepared food are the real stars of the show (there is also a set lunch for those who want slightly heartier portions). Lovers of foie gras and seafood have plenty to choose from here, but vegetarians fare well too with choices from the Potager menu including leek terrine with truffle vinaigrette, asparagus with parmesan shavings and crunchy green beans with chili, as well as a (usually) vegetarian soup of the day. Portion sizes can be hard to predict but the servers offer good advice to those unsure what to order. Don't miss the dessert platter--bite size portions of over half a dozen sweet treats to round out your meal.
