Nice pub with good sausages and mash for £7.25 (although not as good as I had expected given the other reviews below - bad day perhaps?). The Madonna track on loop in the upstairs bar was a little annoying to say the least. Worth going to if in the area.

Had lunch there today with friends, with sausages and mash being the mains order for 4 of us.
Despite good reviews and the promise of 'creamy' mash, I was disappointed with watery gravy, dry mash and hard, overcooked sausages.
Such a shame, given its reputation.
Potential for good atmosphere, and the service was too good, with the manager being overly attentive and a bit too much 'in our faces'

A warm and inviting traditional pub on the West side of West Smithfield serving the usual selection of beers with a good variety of traditional ales.
Great atmosphere esp. in the late evening when the city crowd have cleared. All in all a great, traditional pub with no pretention.
