Seven Stars

Visited in January '04 after seeing a write-up in Time Out the previous summer. On a winter's day at 4 o'clock or so the place was on the empty side but filled up quickly with LSE students and law-related folk (it doesn't take much to fill up - as noted, it's tiny, and retains an antique feel.) It served as a very pleasant place to have a couple of pints of Adnams and read while waiting for a friend to finish work. I didn't eat but the menu looked to have more variety than the "X and chips" type.

Have been meaning to try the Seven Stars since it won a Time Out award but it took me a while to get around to it. Am very glad I did, what a cute place. Small but perfectly formed. Apparently it dates back to 1602, there are certainly low ceilings, beams and panelling but being directly behind the Royal Courts of Justice, it's not a tourist-trap. The stairs leading up to the loos are a bit on the steep side, not sure I'd fancy having to negotiate them after a long lunch!
The only remotely negative thing I can find to say about this charming little pub is that the table cloth was in dire need of a good clean.
