Grape Street Wine Bar

A brilliant little place to meet in Town, has the feeling of being off the beaten track when in fact it's very handy for Theatreland, Covent Garden and after office hours drinks, even a coffee. Food is excellent and varied. Staff are extremely helpful and happy to advise on wines or let you have a little taste.

A cheeful and friendly place where you can relax without the grevious bodily harmony of "musak". Good fun with a group of friends, equally good on your own. What made me fall for it initially was the library of books to read while you're sitting around having a relaxed drink and perhaps a meal. Service is friendly, helpful and well observed - they 're there when you wish they were, but not intrusive and trying to force things upon you. Food is good - a well prepared small menu and they're happy to adapt things as necessary. Well worth returning to. My only caveat - sometimes it's a little smoky for my liking.

Chanced upon this lovely relaxed little basement wine bar yesterday - friendly welcoming staff, varied and interesting winelist with something for everyone - and after a couple of bottles there was a great selection of food from snacks to a full blown meal (the aussie rib-eye was brilliant, and so was the risotto). The waitress really looked after us and everything she recommended was spot on. Theres a definite grapey and literary feel to the place - lots of grape/wine pictures and we noticed a little library, plus there are poems in the ladies which was fun! When we left we discovered a ground floor section which had a different feel but also looked great. We'll definitely be back soon!
