I was a little disappointed as we got there right around dinner time, so the place was a zoo. Being that it was Wellington's mess however, we ordered up a pint, which took quite a while to get...and stood there, the quintessential "Ugly Americans" and seemed to be as much a part of the entertainment as the setting. Oh well.

Additionally, I was disappointed in the descriptions I had read of the pub prior to hopping across the pond. They made it seem like it was, I dont know, just nicer.

Oh well.

A pity! I have had the pleasure of visiting this most intriguing pub for over 30 years and have never been disappointed. The charm still remains but so also do the American tourists. Love it still and have introduced my son to this wonderful haunt.

Arguably one of the most important pubs in London, this tiny place is unquestionably among the town's most atmospheric. Formerly the officer's mess of the Grenadier Guards (Wellington himself drunk here) it's pewter bar is the oldest of its kind. Its tiny rooms are also home to the ghost of a grenadier who was shot in the back bar after cheating at cards! A beautiful, cosy, terifically maintained slice of history, it has a first rate restaurant too. what more could you want? Difficult to find though, and that's as it should be...

I went to the Grenadier for the first time last summer and cannot believe I had not heard of it before. It is a lovely little pub, friendly enough witha lot of character and the best bloody marys I have ever had.

I am a danish power trader who often pay London a visit. From the very first time I went to London, I went to The Granadier, and every time I am in London I have to pay The Granadier a visit. It is the best pub I have ever visit.

The Grenadier is very cosy and if you like a very traditionel pub, then you can not choose a better place to drink a pint or two.

My very best recommendations.
