Used to drink a lot at the Admiral Duncan round the corner, but I found it a bit in your face 'soho.' So I begn to drink at The Player, it is a really subtle place - I met my present boyfriend there about three months ago and it is always full of nubile young men..The gay scene in Soho has really adapted, but I think that The Player is the most liberal of bars, gay or straight it is a nice place to meet and greet the local media set..

I see myself as part of a new liberal breed of gay man and I find The Player is the perfect place for us to 'chill' in..

Really enjoyed a drink at The Player...Excuse my pun but I really felt like a player in there, felt like I had made it to the big time, it has that sort of atmosphere..

A good mix of people, a few gay and bi guys around but not a place for pulling really, just nice for hanging out with friends..either after work or at the weekend..

Read the names of the reviewers below to get an idea of the clientele. Drinks good, service good, atmosphere ok. Better places abound.

Fantastic bar, fantastic cocktails, fantasitc staff... what more do I need to say.

Booked a booth to celebrate my birthday recently and were pleasantly surprised at the service and atmosphere. We had our own waiter, which meant fabulously we didn't have to approach the crowded bar all night, who not only remebered all our drinks but remembered who they belonged to. The staff were professional and mixed a mean cocktail. The music was great and there was a fabulous buzz about the place all night.

Can't recommend it high enough for a night our or an occasion, but sshhh don't let everyone know!

Every time I walk into the Player I feel a million dollars. There is something about the place that instantly puts you at ease and makes you feel like part of special set of people. You want the whole world to know how great it is but at the same time you want to keep it your secret.

The music is always great, the lighting fantastic, the people around you beautiful and you cant order a better Belini anywhere else!

The whole experience leaves you feeling good about yourself. At the end of the evening, as you are walking through the streets of Soho – you are already planning your next visit.

I also had my 30th birthday here and really rate it. The place itself is very laid back, with great cocktails (they mix a mean mojito!), but even more importantly the guys who run it were so helpful and accommodating: not at all fussed when I suddenly upped the numbers at the last minute. Reserving an area was really easy, they don't charge you or even make you put a certain amount behind the bar. They did fail to mention that there's a £3 charge if you arrive after 10pm on a Saturday, but that's hardly going to break the bank! Open until 1am, and I would recommend then heading round the corner to Karaoke Box for a bit of late-night crooning.

The Player is fantastic. I celebrated my 30th birthday there last girls with a group of girls. The cocktails are amazing with the Match Spring Punch being the best cocktail on the list. The food is excellent, you can sit in your comfy leather chairs and enjoy some gourmet snacks whilst soaking up the atmosphere. Have only been to Milk & Honey once, enjoyed that too but my preference would be the Player for its funky atmosphere.

Great night on Friday. Mix up with the table bookings but star of manager managed to sort us out.

Good drinks, (1st class cosmos, mmmm) good vibe and a rather friendly crowd, usually unseen in London!
